It’s been a while since my last product review on Noshu Donuts and that’s not from a lack of wanting to write! I’m always on the look out for new innovative high protein low products to share with you guys but there had been nothing “new” that I’d seen in a while. But sometimes old becomes new again, and that was certainly the case with this High Protein Milk by The Complete Dairy.
I originally starting buying High Protein Milk by The Complete Dairy about 2 years ago and was super impressed with it back then, however my local supermarket stopped selling it, and being the lazy creature of habit that I am, I didn’t bother hunting around for it, but I’m starting to wish I had!
This milk is such a great idea and something I’d been looking for for quite a while, but no one was doing it. I mean it makes sense after all, whey protein comes from milk and I usually have a protein shake every day, if not every second day but I do get sick of the flavours and sometimes just want something a bit more plain, a bit more usable for everyday…
So, how does High Protein Milk by The Complete Dairy taste?
Really good. This one (and my preferred one) is the full cream variety, they do also have a low fat version but who want’s that right?
The milk has a slightly different mouth feel to a “regular” milk. It’s quite hard to describe but it would be best summed up to say it tastes a little bit more dry than regular milk, not in a bad way, but just not quite as slippery. Once you taste it you’ll know exactly what I mean. Whilst it’s different, that’s not to say it’s better or worse, it’s just different.
I’m suspecting the difference in mouth feel is actually due to the reduced level of sugar in the milk which is great. This milk has 25% less lactose compared to regular milk. Lactose is a type of sugar and sugars give food a smooth syrupy texture so it stands to reason this would explain the slightly different mouth feel.
So, what is in this High Protein Milk by The Complete Dairy?

Nothing much to see there which is great. I’m guessing the filtering process is how they get the higher protein and lower lactose.

Nutritionally speaking, how does High Protein Milk by The Complete Dairy compare?
This is where this milk really comes into it’s own. As the bottle says, it’s higher protein and lower lactose (sugar) than regular milk which isn’t something I’ve been hugely concerned about, but it has been something I’ve been looking for.
As I mentioned before, this milk comes in both full cream and light varieties, I’ve review and compared the full cream variety as that’s what I generally prefer.
Per cup (250mL / 1 serve):
✅ Energy: 710 kJ (170 Cal)
✅ Protein: 15.0g
✅ Fat: 8.5g
✅ Carbs (total): 8.3g
✅ – Sugars (Lactose): 8.3g
As you can see there, 15g of protein per cup is pretty damn good! If you used 2 cups in your protein shake, that would add 30g to the 25g roughly in a scoop of whey protein, giving you quite the protein boost!
Used instead of normal milk in your morning coffee and you’ll be giving yourself a little extra protein boost each time.

Let’s compare that to 250mL of ‘Regular’ Full Cream Milk:
⏺ Energy: 665 kJ (158 Cal)
⏺ Protein: 8.5g
⏺ Fat: 8.5g
⏺ Carbs (total): 12.0g
⏺ – Sugars (Lactose): 12.0g
So, as you can see, the protein is quite a lot higher than regular milk. The numbers I have here show it as 67% more protein and not the 70% but that all comes down to the variety they’ve compared it against.
The total carbs (which in milk is always sugar, not complex carbs) is actually 30% less lactose in the High Protein Milk by The Complete Dairy compared to ‘regular’ full cream milk which is actually 5% more than they claim. Again, small variation like this is to be expected.
Did it deliver on it’s promise?
Absolutely. As the bottle says, this milk is higher in protein, lower in lactose and higher in calcium than regular milk.
It’s a great product and one I buy quite often. Price wise it is a little bit more expensive than other milks, but it’s easy to see why.
What I’d absolutely love to see is a “Complete Dairy PRO” that actually has whey protein added to it to boost it up even more 💪
Where can you buy this High Protein Milk by The Complete Dairy?
It seems to be available in most major supermarkets and even the independents which is great! It’s usually priced around $2.50 – $3.00 per litre bottle, although sometimes you can pick it up on special.
